Take Charge Of Your Own Personal Security
Taking charge of your personal protection security doesn't mean you have to have a black belt in karate or some other martial art. There are some simple steps anyone can take to make their lives a little safer. They include knowing some self defense tricks, keeping some sort of weapon on hand, and carying a personal security alarm.
Nobody should live in fear. Worrying about all the what-ifs and all the bad things that might happen does not make for a happy, satisfied life! But of course bad things do happen. Crime exists. We all know this in the back of our heads, but letting it move forward and spend too much time in the front of our minds is never a good idea. One way that we can keep it in its place is by being prepared to defend ourselves in case we should ever need to.
Unless you're a celebrity which, let's face it, you're not (but neither am I), you are responsible for your own personal security. This means that if a situation should arise that puts you in danger, you are the first person who should come to your rescue! This is certainly best done if you have a personal security plan in place beforehand. If you haven't thought about that before, now is the time to do it.
As mentioned, you don't need to know karate, but there are some very smart and simple moves you can learn that can help keep you from becoming a victim at the scene of a crime. One of the very first things you will learn is to be confident! Confidence alone can scare some bad guys off, or at least make their job harder and them feel intimidated (yes, the criminal intimidated by the victim!)
Beyond this, you can learn moves that can help keeping someone from getting a hold of you or dragging you into car, as well as simple ways you can cause pain to the bad guys. These types of defense moves are taught in community courses at a recreation center or police station in most cities. Look it up and sign up. You will feel the confidence you're supposed to have when you face any kind of danger.
Of course your best course of action is to avoid any sort of confrontation. This is where „weapons” like pepper spray and teaser guns come in. If you're carrying something like this with you when you are in a dark or questionable area, you may be able to get rid of your assailant with a zap or a spray and have enough time to make your escape. Before purchasing something like this, check for regulations in your state or area, as they are illegal some places.
Having a personal security alarm is another good detractor. If you sense trouble, simply pull out the pin or push the button and send out a signal so loud that anyone within hearing distance will know there's something going on. Criminals probably won't want to stay around to see who comes looking to see what's going on!
Make a plan today for how you can handle your personal protection security, and breathe a little easier, keeping any fears from spending too much time at the front of your mind.
